Tony, who’d spent the drive sitting silently in the third row of seats, said, “Yes, sir.”

We parked in the visitor lot, and sprinted for the chateau to search the house for Ben, while the others stood guard outside.

I knew something was wrong when we found the front door unlocked and the place utterly empty. No vamps, no blood servants, no housekeeping staff. No Ben.
